When I entered the world of freelancing, I already knew one thing. This industry is not stable.
That is why I kept my full-time job and continued doing side hustles. Even though I was earning well from freelancing, especially my offline work, I knew freelancing can pull you down anytime if you are not careful.
In freelancing, you wear all the hats.
You are the business owner, the freelancer, the manager, the accountant, and the marketer etc….
And your income is unpredictable.
Some months are good. Some are quiet. That is normal. What is risky is relying on it without any safety net.
That is why my advice is simple. 👇
When you receive your freelance earnings, whether it is your first payment or the next one, always allocate money for three things first:
🩷 Yourself
💲 Emergency fund
📊 Investments
The rest goes to bills, allowance, needs, and wants.
This is not about playing small. It is about staying in the game long enough to grow.
Thinking ahead is not pessimism. It is preparation.
And preparation gives you better decisions, better sleep, and better focus.
Oh, and a small update before I end this.
My Freelance Starter OS Pro was recently approved on the Notion Marketplace.
It’s a quiet milestone that came from building slowly, carefully, and with structure, the same mindset I use in freelancing.
